Birthday Wishes to My Boy

It's a happy day today at our household. Mixed with a little melancholy for mom. Today my baby boy is turning 15. Fifteen!

I can't say out loud he's a baby boy anymore. He's gone from a shy, little boy hanging fiercely onto my hand, and sometimes my leg, in new situations to a wonderfully polite young man. He's gone from a little boy who loved "The Lion King" and all things related, to a young man who loves "Lord of the Rings" and "Star Wars". He's gone from a little boy who I had to pick up to hug to a young man who is now taller than me and the picking up I do is in my taxi car. He's gone from the little boy who drove the hot wheels cars down the slide to the young man who got his learner's and now wants to drive the family car, hopefully not down the slide. He's gone from a little boy who screamed and clung to my neck because he didn't want to go under the water at the pool to a young man who asked to be baptized at church last year.

HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY SON! YOU'RE A WONDERFUL YOUNG MAN AND WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU IN EVERYWAY! And I'll still call you my baby boy in my heart.

LOVE YA!

Oh i can so relate to this post. Yes, remember the Lion King days. Sigh. But we are SO proud of the young men they've become.

Fifteen is a big deal. Not quite as big a deal as sixteen, but fifteen is definitely a "big boy!" Heck. My first boyfriend was fifteen. I know that's a huge comfort to you. LOL

Happy Birthday to him. I hope it's a very special day for him.

This is too funny - a comment just came in from you - we're apparently reading each other's blogs at exactly the same moment. :-)

What a great post! I don't even want to think about my almost 10 yr. old son being 15. He is already hugging less and he doesn't want me to help in his classroom anymore. It sounds like your's is growing up to be quite a gentleman.

I also remember those 'Lion King' Days. My son excelled in elementary school. Loved every minute of it. Sample Parent teacher conference...what can we say about your son? he's perfect. My comment... thank you but I know he's not perfect. HaHA.

Mid-school was quite the challenge. He almost failed 6th grade. I caught it in March the next year and demanded a parent/teacher conference. I was in a room with 8 teachers saying WHY DIDN'T ANYONE TELL ME? We pulled it together and got him on the right track again so he made it to 7th grade. 8th grade, he hated school and lapped me in height. He is not impressed with 9th grade.

He still doesn't have a learners permit to drive (too young) and is starting to fill out and turning into a nice fella.

He has a sister in 8th grade who has also lapped me in height.

I have learned to trust those early years when they were full of zeal and wonder. I have learned to trust the things that I taught them when they were little...trust that I gave them each a strong and firm foundation.

So along winded Happy Birthday to your son.

Have a great day :)

Thank you everyone for the nice wishes. I'll be passing them on to my boy.

Pammy Jean: I've seen you comment a few times but have not been able to respond because your name does not link anywhere. So I'll just use this space to say hello and thanks for coming by. I hope you see it.

Happy Belated B-day to your boy. My 18 yr old went from Lion King to Lord of the Rings and Star Wars too!

He's still my baby boy too. Always will be - it's a mother's prerogative - we went through labour!

Happy Birthday to your son. It is so bitter-sweet to watch them grow up and leave all those childish things we loved so much behind. He sounds like a terrific guy!
