Four Word Meme & Friday Night Lights

Carol, at She Lives, has tagged me for this word association meme. And she has given me a just a wonderful little list of words that I'm supposed to look at and then write what those words mean to me. Here goes:

Focus: The name of the out of province youth conference my kids all like to attend that I have to start saving up for now to be able to send them in the spring.

Desensitize: Hard heart. What happens when I am out of the Word and into the things of this world.

Cubed: The big old ugly ship of the Borg from Star Trek: Next Generation. I know, their ship isn't actually called "cubed" but like my son says it looks like a big cube of garbage driving through space.

Inane: Dictionary says "silly". I have no idea how this applies to me! :v)

Well, that wasn't so bad. After reading Beck's words that she gave out (that girl knows some seriously different words!), Carol, well lets just say I'm glad I got yours and I'll even forgive you for not giving me a word like "ice cream".

So I am tagging Linda 'cause she's very good with words (if you haven't found her yet go check her out), Addie, IslandSparrow and Jenny, if you want to play or haven't done it yet, of course.

Here are your words:

Teach
Shrill
Memento
Abundance

Now about Friday Night Lights. All you football fans like Shalee, Kate and Boomama, did you know they ran a pilot the other night that is going to turn this movie into a weekly show? Starring one of my favorite T.V. actors, Kyle Chandler as the coach. I caught the last 15 or 20 minutes of the pilot and in that time they had 2 moments of prayer in the show. Did you catch that? Two times they prayed in 20 minutes in a Major station pilot. In Jesus' name, even. Yes, they prayed in Jesus name!!! I almost fell over. I tried to go to the NBC website because apparently you can watch the whole pilot on there, but I couldn't get it to work. What I want to know is, did anyone see it? Is the whole show good? Are the morals good through the whole show? Someone let me know because I'd love to have a sports based show to watch with my teens!

UPDATE: If you haven't linked over to Linda at A 2nd Cup of Coffee yet, take a minute & go. You won't be sorry. She did a great job on her very first meme and you will seriously never look at a meme the same way again.

And great job to Island Sparrow and Jen, too! I thoroughly enjoyed reading yours! Thanks for playing along. I haven't seen Addie's yet but I know hers will be a pleasure to read too!

Good job with those words! I hadn't thought about the Borg ship for a while - but I think Chad and I watched every single episode of The Next Generation in the first few years of our marriage. :)

Hey! My words rocked! I especially liked "callipygian". Your answers were a lotta fun, though!

Hahaha! You're words were great Beck, I just seriously had never heard of them and therefore I was Clueless, with a capital "C".

Hey Susanne! Cute answers to the meme. I did this one on my funny blog today!!

I think that if your last word to associate was insane, it would still apply to you. What's a letter amongst friends...

And FNL? I didn't watch it because all the previews showed that the program to be about sex of the teenagers between the football games. I'm glad they prayed, but I don't know that it makes up for all the implied fornication... Was I just dead wrong because seriously, that is why I didn't watch the show.

Shalee: Bummer! I was so hoping that because they actually had used the name of Jesus in the way He intended that it might be a show that held up values and morals. Why, oh why, can't they just bring on a good show? Wish Michael Landon was still around!

Great words! And the ones you chose to pass on look pretty interesting, too. I'm still trying to understand why you got stumped on inane. Boy, I can think of about a thousand ways I personally could use that one!

Oh I loved Michael Landon....I used to be able to get Highway to Heaven reruns but haven't seen them around in sometime. I would love for my kids to watch it. Laura

Ok, I wrote my first meme. It's a little out of the box . . . . So, I get to tag people now? They LIKE this?? If this is true, I am in nerd heaven!

Great job, Susanne! I especially like your response to inane! Thanks for playing along.

OK Carol, I have placed a tag upon you. I can't wait to see what you reply. Thanks!

I meant Susanne, but I have indeed also tagged Carol. I am worn out.

I love Kyle Chandler, too. I watched part of it, then went and did something, then came back, so I must've missed the sexual content. Much as I like Kyle, I was bored with the plotline -- it seemed cliched (is that a word?) from what few other sports films I've seen. There were a couple of objectionable words, but I don't remember what they were or where they occurred.

I wish the film industry would understand that it doesn't have to throw in sexual scenes and bad words to make a good show.

Susanne, I saw the pilot and saw them pray in Jesus' Name, too! I couldn't believe they actually showed the whole prayer and even the coach praying. Amazing. The rest of the show wasn't too bad, if I remember (and if I didn't zone out or have to go put a child back to bed). There was some teenage drinking, though. No sex that I recall. That doesn't mean it won't happen in future episodes. We'll have to see.
