WFMW 6 ~ Shoe Goo

WARNING: Blatant Product Endorsement Below!

Today for Works For Me Wednesday I'm going to name names. I'm going to come right out and say what I use probably more than any other fix it product in my home. That product is Shoe Goo. On the label it says it's an adhesive and sealant. It's actually rubber with a solvent. I have used this stuff everywear. It's flexible and the longer it cures the stronger it is. I have used it fix soles on shoes. I have used it to fix broken ceramic. I have fixed the kids pool with it. My mother in love has used it to fill in a chip in her windshield that a rock made so it wouldn't spread. Of course the clear shoe goo is recommended, not the black, for this type of job. It has fixed broken toys. I reattached my purse handle when it came out and you can't even tell. The latest thing I used it on was the bag on one of those canvas folding lawn chairs that you put inside the bag and carry with a strap. The bag separated at the bottom and frayed. I thought I'd give it a try and it's holding strong.

If you go here, it will give you 101 uses for this great product.

A tip though, that we found was buy the smaller tube, even though you will use this often. If you get any around the rim of the tube and not notice, you guessed it. You've glued it shut tight. While I have been able to turn it off with plyers if too much is on there, there is no way you'll get it undone. Therefore, you won't have wasted a big honking tube. Although, I suppose you could always poke a small hole in the tube and then tape over it so it doesn't dry out. Unless of course, you need it for a huge job like spreading on your surfboard or windsurfer to make a non-slip surface. Then by all means, go for it, get crazy and buy a big tube!

Shoe goo sounds great and everything, but "Mother in love"...That's the best tip I've heard for a long time. I'm assuming that's your version of Mother-in-law? I think I'm going to adopt that. I LOVE my MIL, and saying "in-love" reflects our relationship so much better than "in-law". Oh, and I do believe I may try out the shoe goo too.

I'm all for endorsing a product that works. There are too many that just don't. This is my first WFMW and I love it already!

Shoe goo...hmm, I'll have to see if my mom can bring some over when she comes to visit. I'm sure hubby would love it!

Blessings!

I'm going to have to try this stuff. My kids are constantly bringing me broken stuff (toys, sports equipment, etc.) and depending on me to fix it. Usually I just use SuperGlue, but I usually end up with it all over me as well, since it's so thin. This seems more manageable.

Sounds like this stuff is better than SuperGlue! I'll have to give it a try! Thanks for the tip. :)

I've posted a WFMW tip as well. Stop by and take a peek! :)

I never heard of this either but I'm putting it on my shopping list! I have a pair of boots that need this badly, and I couldn't part with them. Thanks for the tip!

I just love knowing that these products actually work! I'm totally going to have to get a tube, I happen to have something that needs to be glued back together!

Where do you usually get Shoe Glue..I live in a city which is not wal-mart accessible (so if it is there, I may have to make a special trip)...thanks for the tip.
I just posted mine...but it is not as practical as yours.

How timely... hubby's shoes had a blow out just Sunday... sounds like a great reason to try it out!

Mother-In-Love? That may be the sweetest thing I've ever heard.

And this sounds like a miracle product - hope I can find it at Home Depot!

I'm with Barb - Mother in love. I liked you already but that sealed the deal, sort of like Shoe Goo apparently does! I'll pick it up - we're breaking things around here all the time.
