Everyday Tomatoes 5

"...For I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances." Philippians 4:11
This week my simple pleasure has to be my bed, hands down. After a long day, and this week when I've felt sort of exhausted my bed has felt extra good. When we used to tent camp and sleep on the ground, these ol' hips would be screaming for my bed. And if you've been on holidays and sleeping in hotel beds there is nothing like coming home and being in your own bed. And as I watch the news this past week with all the displaced people from Lebanon, I am extremely grateful and thankful for my bed and I say a prayer for all those whom this war is affecting and do not have a bed to sleep in tonight.

Oh, me too. I've finally been able to move back to my REAL bed after sleeping with the baby on a futon for the past year and a bit, and I'm so happy about it!

Excellent choice of an everyday favorite! We just bought a new mattress ourselves and I did not realize just how much I appreciated a good solid bed! Happy dreams!

Ah, yes. The older I get, the more I appreciate my bed!

My bed is like a haven to me. I was finally able to "furnish" it to perfection. Highest thread-count sheets I could find, soft mattelaise cotton blanket and a wonderful fluffy but light-weight comforter. Perfect pillows. And yes, every time I get into my wonderful bed at night, I think how lucky I am. There's a park in our city I drive by and I see homeless people there, laying on sleeping bags, and I almost feel guilty about the luxury of my bed. I never stop appreciating it.

I'm about to be gone a week on business, staying in a hotel. I'm probably not going to like their bed.

Still, in light of what the displaced people from Lebanon are experiencing, I really have no right to complain.

Thanks for that reminder. It helps put things into prospective.

Yes. A bed to sleep on. We take things for granted, don't we? All week God has REALLY worked on me about being thankful. At least once a day, some sort of lesson, thought or scripture has come up about being thankful for what I have. Thanks for the reminder! :>)

I love that you put it into a wonderful perspective. Not only are you thankful for your place to rest your bones, you also pray for those who are out of theirs for major reasons - one of which is protecting us so that we may keep our place to lay our heads.

I know exactly how you feel!! At the end of the day there is nothing I like better than to fall into bed, pull the covers up and snuggle down into my pillow...

Yes, me, too. I love that my boys can snuggle up with me & my husband. We are blessed beyond measure.

That would have to be one of my simple pleasures, too. Especially when I can sleep in the next morning, lounging in bed with my husband, my three cats, and a good book or my laptop, listening to the happy birds outside and thinking about the day ahead.

I second what Shalee says. Great perspective. I love climbing into bed at night. As soon as I lay down, I feel everything in my just sink and relax. I usually crash w/in 5 minutes. ha!
